DIVERSIFICATION IN INLAND FINFISH AQUACULTURE II (DIFA II)

DIVERSIFICATION IN INLAND FINFISH AQUACULTURE II (DIFA II)

The workshop is organised on the occasion of opening the new facilities of the Faculty of Fisheries and Protection of Waters (FFPW) - "South Bohemian Research Center of Aquaculture and Biodiversity of Hydrocenoses" (CENAKVA). The DIFA II workshop follows the previous successful DIFA workshop in May 2011 in Písek, Czech Republic on the occasion of launching the CENAKVA project with celebration in Hluboká castle. Besides other goals, the workshop will try to contribute to further development of FFPW.

The workshop topics follow the main tasks of both the Research Institute of Fish Culture and Hydrobiology, FFPW and the CENAKVA project, addressing both traditional and modern methods of production of many aquatic species, exploring farming technologies and products. Issues of water protection and use of fish model in biological systems are addressed as well. Main topics of the workshop will be focused on: quality of fish flesh and nutrition; reproduction and biotechnology; freshwater aquaculture of commercially interesting fish; detection, exposure, effect, risk and elimination of pollutants in the aquatic environment.

The workshop should provide a meeting place for all involved in the above areas of aquaculture research and production. We hope that the workshop will be a real opportunity for an in-depth exchange of experience between scientists on one hand and producers and other users on the other hand. Participation of fish and related technology producers from Europe will be especially supported.
