Another A.naccarii caught in the River Po

Another big specimen of Acipenser naccarii has been caught by a fisherman (Yuri Grisendi) in the River Po, at Polesella (RO), on December 20. The sturgeon has been released after the sampling of a small piece of tissue for genetic analysis to identify its possible origin. Most probably this fish, like the previous one caught by the same fisherman, is a part of the stock of 2000 fingerlings released in 1992 by the Mantova province, progeny of a controlled reproduction carried out at the VIP fish farm (Giovannini family).
