Middle February was the day 1 of the 2016 Sturgeon Spearing season 2016 on the Winnebago System. This traditional fishing method is permitted every year for a limited period of time and captures under the supervision of the Winnebago Sturgeon System of the Winsconsin Department of  Natural Resources.
