This book tries to fill a gap on our knowledge on the historic distribution of sturgeons in a given watershed area. The objective of the study, however, was not only to search for all available data and informations on sturgeons in Austrian waters to obtain a clearer overall understanding of their historical distribution but also to gather information on more recent records in this country.
The intentional use of the gained data is to evaluate the potential for Austrian rivers to support viable sturgeon populations again.
